Dr. Colantonio holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health, a MSc in Community Health and an undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy. Her main areas of research have focused on the epidemiology of disability in aging or aged populations with specific neurological conditions. She has conducted studies of the long-term outcome after traumatic brain injury in both Canada and the United States. She has been involved in national studies of aging through which she has investigated the support needs of family caregivers of dementia. In addition, she is conducting research that focuses on the predictors of stroke incidence and outcomes of stroke in the elderly.
